The day started out slightly overcast heading to Ulverstone to drop off Georgia for her $10 day stay in boarding! off we went following narrow country roads, passing some stunning early 1900's houses. We wound our way through various small villages until we reached Barrington Lake. Dark and mood with clouds hanging in the sky, we weren't convinced today we would have clear skies to visit Cradle Mountain.

We arrived at Cradle Mountain at 9am to a crystal clear day - we could not have planned it better! Parking at the visitors centre and catching the shuttle bus into Dove Lake (cost was $16.50 per person National Park day pass including shuttle). When we head into Cradle Mountain in the shuttle they give you some commentary about the places you pass.

We arrived into Dove Lake and decided today was the day to do the circuit walk. Last time we were here it was cold and grey and only short walks were our preference. Today we wanted to do and see as much as we could. We did the walk anticlockwise - best way as you hit the steep climb in the first half an hour so it is easier for the rest of the way. The different change in temperature and also view was gorgeous.

This walk would be considered moderate. A few steep sections but the track is well maintained and there is some boardwalk. Mostly it is easy walking and is nice and relaxing. We did the 5km in 1 1/2 hours and that was with stopping in a variety of places for some food and a drink oh and yes photo's!!

After some lunch we decided we would walk back to the Visitor Centre. Great walk but it was warm so we were starting to feel our legs by the time we finished. Lucky Peppers Resort had a bar as we needed the well deserved beer at the finish!! 9km from Dove Lake to the Visitor Centre which took us a good couple of hours. This is not a difficult walk as it is mostly boardwalk. It also joins onto the start of the Overland track to Lak St Clair.

I have to say we both love this place. Is quiet and peaceful even though there are many people visiting. We both enjoyed our time here and look forward to another trip. Trent would love to do the Overland Walk so if anyone is keen, let him know!!
