We have decided to continue our tour and head further south towards Hobart. We have taken in the sites of 4 Mile Creek Beach – whilst stunning it did have a sadness with lots of cockles washed up onshore unopened. There has been a bad algal bloom here in recent times which is still impacting many shell fish.

Stopping in Bicheno for some lunch looking out over the crystal clear azure coloured waters – you could think you were any where in the world looking at it. Bicheno is famous for the Fairy Penguins with many a visitor here. Very popular place in the summer months as this is also a great diving spot. You can also spot whales – not just the popular humpbacks but they also get killer whales here during migration.
Heading further south is Freycinet National Park. Whilst we love this park especially Wine Glass Bay and the walk up to the lookout, this time around we have decided not to visit. Anyone who does come to Tasmania this is the most photographed spot of them all. It is stunning and one we really wanted to revisit. We are also limited with Georgia too.
Has been a bit of an eye opener with the number of wineries (lots of cellar doors) that have popped up in recent years along this coast line. All you can see is beautiful lush green vies across the landscape. Am sure in the years to come this area will be up there with the rest of Oz in what they have to offer.

Tonights room with a view is Mayfield Bay overlooking Freycinet National Park and within the Great Oyster Bay realms. A gorgeous spot that we will spend a night enjoying. Lots of campers at this spot so we will move on tomorrow heading further south to Gordon. This is south of Hobart so we will be stopping to stock up on some provisions as this small places are costing us a fortune!!
