We have decided to head south past Hobart for a few days stopping in at Gordon before getting to Cockle Creek down on the tip of Tassie. Prior to heading south, we needed to do the grocery run. Woolies here we come! Whilst not something everyone has, the Woolies rewards card is an item we do have. We did today learn though that the card used on ‘The Mainland’ is not able to be used in Tassie. Why one asks, still have no idea!
Any way moving on! Gordon is a small village overlooking Bruny Island (actually just a stones throw away!!) and about 35km south of Hobart. We have decided to head back to Bruny as a day trip as we will be in Hobart over the Christmas period. Look out for our post on Bruny! We also passed cherry🍒 orchards so had to stop in - 1kg=$10. OMG they were delicious!!

Camping in Gordon is an honesty box system - $5 per night. Trent made friends with a guy camping here at Gordon and let him in on a wee local secret - a boat appears at the wharf in the late afternoon selling oysters for $1 each! Needless to say Trent wanted to get a half dozen. As it turns out he was given the oysters instead of having to pay! The oysters were very large and he tells me delicious!

Again the fishing rods are out - any bites I ask - that would be a no! Ah well at least we have tried.

A short drive to explore this part of Tassie lead us to Cygnet. A small town full of cafes and a famous ABC chef 👨🍳 Matthew Evans commonly known as the Gourmet farmer. Whilst we didn’t have lunch in the restaurant we hear it is very good.
Driving along the coast line here is stunning. Some beautiful old and new houses take in the views. Housing is readily available and cheap in comparison to Sydney!!
