Bruny Island is made up of north and south Bruny linked by a spit. It is a short ferry ride from Kettering - cost $33 return for car and $70 for car and caravan. We did a day trip from Hobart but there are plenty of places to stay here.
After getting off the ferry we decided to take in North Bruny first. We followed the road until we hit the turn off for Killora - a small wee village on the water. The views along this road back to Mainland Tasmania are stunning.
Continuing on, we stopped into Dennes Point where there is an art studio with a cafe. They also grow their own veg. Cakes looked beautiful too. Whilst only open Thursday to Monday it is a nice place to stop for a coffee.

We continued back to the main road, stopping into the Bruny Island Cheese for a tasting and also to make a purchase. You can stop and have a bite to eat or try one of their own brewed beers.
Leaving the cheese factory, we passed through the spit joining the two islands. Here there is a great lookout - it’s a steep climb but worth it! This area is protected as this is also a Rookery for Penguins. You can see the nests as you climb up the lookout steps.

We headed to Cloudy Bay. Wow, what a beautiful beach and location. It is very exposed here. You can drive along the beach at low tide to enter into the National Park.

We also tried to get to the Bruny Island Lighthouse, however this is on National Park land and we were traveling with Georgia so could not make it all the way in. Having said that, the bays and outcrops we encountered along the road were gorgeous.
We went into Adventure Bay - the main part of Bruny. Here you can get a Yellow Boat Cruise. Whilst we did not do the cruise this time we have done it previously and would highly recommend it. The trip takes you along the coast line which is rugged but stunning. The Arches were amazing. One for any one who loves taking photos. Truely spectacular views - you won’t be disappointed!
Camping on Bruny is very popular. There are sites on the coastline as well as the camping ground in Adventure Bay.
