We made a short drive from Strahan up to Trial Harbour. A very small sleepy village on the ocean. Is a steep and twisty climb down into find the free camp. There is limited space here and anything bigger than what we have would not fit let alone get down the hairpin bend!

Originally a fishing Harbour back in the day, this place is treacherous- ocean has claimed a number of lives due to the rips and currents. Stunning place though with beautiful sunsets!

We meet a guy - Joey Cotton who camped beside us. He runs the ‘Edge of the World Tours’ and has a party of 4 women on one of his tours. He kindly invited us to tag along on his trip up through Granville Harbour and along 4 Mile beach to the Pieman mouth. We accepted but only went up to the end of the beach.

What an awesome day! The views and untouched pristine ocean and bush here along with sand dunes are amazing.

Not to mention a special visit along one of the tracks of a Tasmanian Devil. Unfortunately no pics but we were both excited to have seen one in the wild!

Trial Harbour also has some amazing campfires. Was awesome to sit out and star gaze plus spot a few satellites crossing the night sky.

Can’t thank Joey enough for treating us to some local knowledge and showing a part of Tassie we would not have seen otherwise.

Joey is your guide, chef and also sets up your tent and bed while you explore your new surrounds. He treats you to some fresh caught seafood (abolone he had got from the rocks, occasionally crayfish and fresh caught salmon). Check him out if looking for a short stay experience in the summer months.
