We meet up with our newly made friends - the Quinn Family who kindly invited us to join them for a few days in the Grampians. We couldn’t refuse the offer!
Georgia was placed into boarding for 3 days and we were set. We stayed at a free camp - Under the Trees 🌲 just outside Halls Gap. Dry but there was still a little grass around.
4wd tracks here a plenty so we had to check them out. Day 1 was Victoria Range Track and Day 2 Mt Difficult.
Day 1 we took in Silverdale Falls - were more of a trickling Falls than a full on running Falls! Brambuk National Park and Cultural Centre was helpful with guides on the various walks/tracks. We walked up to the Aboriginal Art at Billimina Shelter and checked out the Buandik Campground.
Day 2 we followed around the bottom of Mt Difficult past Zumsteins (walk following the river to MacKenzie Falls) to MacKenzie Falls. These Falls were in full flow. It is a very steep walk down to the bottom of the Falls. You are not able to swim in these Falls. The view from the viewing platform across the valley down onto the Falls is brilliant.
Boroka Lookout was our last stop taking in the views across the valley for as far as the eye could see. We looked down into Halls Gap, spotted the wind turbines in the distance as well as Ararat.
Trent and Haylee walked the track down from Boroka to Halls Gap (approximately 6km) whilst Bede, myself and the boys - Hunter and Lucas checked out the local swimming pool!
The Grampians also put on a magic starlight display every night - satellites 🛰 and shooting stars were a plenty! This place is awesome for kids of all ages!
