We found a low cost camp site just in the outskirts of Agnes Waters - Workman’s Beach camping, with flushing toilet and outdoor shower ($9.20 per person or $25.50 per family). A short stroll takes you down on the beach. There is also the discovery Trail which takes you through the bush to a gorgeous viewing platform. It over looks Agnes Waters Beach and Workman’s Beach plus you get the view right up to the point at 1770. You can walk the 6km along Agnes Waters Beach to 1770 then along to the lookout.
This place is beautiful. We had intended staying a couple of days but it has turned into 6 days!! There are other beach’s and walks here. Chinamans Beach is lovely. You can walk down onto the fat end of Chinamans Beach to do the 3km Red Rock walk. We tried to do this walk as we had been told we could take Georgia but the signs said it was a turtle nesting ground and dogs weren’t permitted. Shame as we had been told there were some pretty amazing beaches.
Agnes Waters has had growth of population in the past 30 years with the local primary school opening in 1990 and a Christian High School in 2015.
Close by there is Deepwater National And Eurimbula National Park.
1770 was named after Captain Cooks arrival on 24 May 1770. There are re-enactments of this landing by the locals on the anniversary. It is a quaint town with the local pub -they do their own beer- and a gorgeous protected beach. You are able to hirer kayaks here - great spot for it or if you had a SUP it would be perfect! Trips to Lady Musgrave Island and the outer reef plus sunset cruisers are also offered. There are 5 caravan parks close to both locations as well as the low cost place we stayed.
These 2 places are well worth a visit if you are passing through!!
